I began painting in my early teens. For some reason, I have always been drawn to oil painting. Perhaps it was because it was something I could do while sitting down—I have always been a bit lazy like that. Or perhaps it was because I could sense a connection between the physical act of painting and the clarity of thought it demanded. For me, the process matters as much as the result. I love the texture of the paint, the feel of it under the brush, and the movement of the brush itself. I also enjoy spending hours looking at my paintings, wondering what needs to happen next and how they might change. I cannot really defend the finished works. They are what they are. If you like them, I am grateful. But please don't ask me what they mean, because I haven't a clue.
